The Challenge Grant application for 2019 was submitted for The Public House at 123 N Chestnut. This will be the home of a new restaurant/tap room along with 6 upper story apartments. Main Street Iowa is all about historic preservation and is interested in upper story housing opportunities, so we think this a great project.
This property was purchased by Amanda Bills and Addi Meyer who both have extensive restaurant experience. Their dream was to open a unique restaurant in downtown Jefferson when the building became available. We look forward to supporting their efforts.
The announcement of this year’s Challenge Grant recipients will be on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Botanical Center in Des Moines. A press release will be sent out soon after and hopefully The Public House will be one of those recipients!
Other Challenge Grants that Jefferson has received are $74,500 for Sensibly Chic in 2016 and $35,500 for Prairie Lakes AEA apartment in 2017. Jefferson did not submit a grant application in 2018.
