Christmas Tree Lighting at Thomas Jefferson Gardens

GO BACK

Jefferson Matters: Main Street and Thomas Jefferson Gardens invite you and your family to the annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens in Jefferson. Santa will be there to light the huge Christmas tree outside in the gardens. The Greene County Singers will sing carols and the Sugar Plum Fairies will dance around the tree.

The first 200 people through the gate will receive a free cookie coupon for Homestead Bakery compliments of Main Street. The first 200 children will receive a free glow stick to help light up the night.

Hot cocoa will be served and reindeer food will be available for kids to attract the Santa’s deer on Christmas Eve.

All are welcome to tag the Christmas tree with a special wish. One tag will be chosen to receive a prize from the Thomas Jefferson Garden’s Board.

There will be special surprise photo opportunities throughout the gardens.

Relay for Life of Greene County will have lighted luminaria at the Gardens and will also hang the luminaria bags from the 2016 Relay in the courthouse for display throughout December.

Following the tree lighting, Santa Claus will meet youngsters at the top of the Mahanay Bell Tower. There will be free admission to the tower that evening.

Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s Christmas chairperson Angie Reese-Hueser exclaimed, “ What a great way to spend an evening with your family ringing in the start of the holiday season!”
