WHO sportscasters to broadcast live on the Square as part of big Iowa-ISU football game promo

WHO-TV Channel 13’s RVTV is coming to Jefferson on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Sportscasters Keith Murphy and Andy Fales will be broadcasting live on the courthouse square in downtown Jefferson for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news programs.

RVTV rolls out once a year in the week prior to the Iowa-Iowa State football game. This year’s game is at Jack Trice Stadium on the ISU campus in Ames on Saturday, Sept. 14. RVTV spends a full day in four different communities during the week, Monday through Thursday, and ending its tour of “Cy-Hawk Country” in either Ames or Iowa City for two days of live broadcasting on Friday and Saturday as part of pre-game and post-game coverage.

This year’s RVTV tour schedule is Monday—Creston, Tuesday—Jefferson, Wednesday—Webster City, Thursday—Iowa Falls, and Friday and Saturday—Ames.

The RVTV crew will arrive in Jefferson between 10 a.m. and noon and set up its live remote operation. Murphy and Fales, known to sports fans in Iowa as “Murph and Andy,” will also broadcast their live radio show from Jefferson in the afternoon.

RVTV is welcomed in each town with a festival-like atmosphere. Planning is underway in Jefferson for a “downtown tail gate party” with a committee made of representatives from Greene County Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Greene County Farmers Market, and the Greene County schools.  Events will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until the live sports broadcast during the 10 p.m. news program.
